Overview:

1. Visit the Museum of Islamic Art

Number one on our list is a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art – home to a collection of over 14 centuries of Islamic art. Located on one end of Doha’s Corniche, the architecturally designed building is a breathtaking addition to the Doha skyline. If the architecture itself (by renowned architect I.M. Pei) isn’t enough to lure you in, the exquisite textiles, ceramics, glass work, manuscripts and countless other artworks certainly will.

2. Explore Souq Waqif

Next on the list is a visit to Souq Waqif – a traditional marketplace in the heart of Doha. Experience the vibrant charm of old Qatar as you indulge in the aroma of spices, admire the traditional architecture, and browse the colourful shops for souvenirs. Savour authentic Qatari cuisine at a cosy restaurant, watch street performers, and end your day with a cup of tea at a shisha lounge. You even have the option to stay at a hotel within the Souq itself!

3. Take a desert safari

Leave the city behind you to embark on a desert safari! Often just a 45-minute drive from the city, you’ll have the opportunity to experience some of Qatar’s natural beauty and learn all about its Bedouin culture. A typical desert safari includes dune bashing, camel riding and a traditional Arabian dinner under the stars. Like with all our small group tours, a desert safari in Qatar requires a good level of physical fitness, so please speak with our team of Travel Specialists to determine if this activity is right for you.

4. Stroll along the Corniche

If you’re a sucker for a city skyline, the Corniche is the place for you. This seven-kilometre-long stretch of coastline is a popular spot for tourists, where you can take in beautiful views of the Arabian Gulf and Skyline of downtown Doha. As you enjoy a leisurely stroll, you’ll come across cafes, restaurants, parks, sculptures and much more.

5. Explore Katara Cultural Village

Katara Cultural Village will draw you in with its stunning architecture, tranquil surroundings, and enchanting atmosphere. A perfect blend of traditional and contemporary elements, this village showcases Qatar's rich culture and heritage. 10. Swim with Whale Sharks

We’re finishing this list with something for the more adventurous among us – swimming with the whale sharks! From April to September, the warm waters of Doha provide a perfect home for these gentle giants. An encounter with these impressive, spotted creatures is certainly awe-inspiring, and some tour companies even allow you to swim alongside them in their natural habitat. As they are a protected species, there are strict guidelines in place to ensure their safety, and you will be provided with thorough education before being able to enter the water.
