South & Central America FAQs
Is South America safe for tourists?
While there are some areas of South America that can be dangerous, much of the continent is perfectly safe to visit. Rest assured, all the locations you travel to on a Bunnik South America tour are safe for tourists. You’ll also have an expert tour guide by your side to assist you if you have any questions.
What is the best month to visit South America?
Generally, September to November is considered the best time to book a South America group tour. In saying that, due to the vast size of South America and varying altitudes, there is no single best time to visit; what could be pleasant weather in one country could mean rain in another!
How long should I spend in Central America?
It ultimately depends on what you want to see and do! Central America consists of 7 countries (Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize). In order to see all of Central America you would need many weeks and potentially months and if you include Mexico then the time required to see everything would be much longer. As a general rule of thumb, if you can spend one to two weeks per country, that would give you a nice taste of the similarities and differences between each country and allow you to visit many of the highlights. However, it would be very easy to spend considerably longer in each country.
When should I travel to Central America?
We recommend booking a Central America holiday package between December and April. This is when the weather is mostly dry. However, thanks to the warm, tropical climate, you can really travel to Central America in any season. Please note that temperatures will vary depending on altitude.
Are there any current travel restrictions in South America?
