Cruising the Nile River - what to expect

Day two - Exploring Edfu and Kom Ombo

The first stop on our cruise is in Edfu, home to the Temple of Horus. This is the second largest temple in Egypt, and is one of the best preserved. The Temple of Horus was even believed to have been built on the site of the great battle between Horus and Seth.

Today, we enjoy time off the ship exploring this ancient temple. Next, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo. Dedicated to the two gods Sobek and Heroeris, this unique temple is beautifully situated on the banks of the Nile and was once a popular sunbathing spot for the crocodiles of ancient Egypt!

Day three - Uncover Aswan

Time slows down in Aswan as feluccas tack back and forth across the river and locals go about their daily business at a more relaxed pace. We arrive in Aswan and, in contrast to the country’s many ancient landmarks, we visit Egypt’s modern feat of construction – the Aswan High Dam. Next up is the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk in Egypt, and the Temple of Isis on Agikia Island. We take to the Nile in a traditional felucca for a relaxing cruise along the lifeblood of Egypt before returning back to the ship for our last night.
